Sami Labs in expansion mode

Sami Labs Limited, a Bangalore based multinational health science company is in an expansion mode. As part of its expansion program, the company will invest Rs 100 crore to enter the European market. ForsLean, a weight management product is the flagship product of the company. Sami recorded a turnover of Rs 326 crore over the past 6 months (Jan – June, 2005). By the end of December they intend to touch Rs 600 crore. By the next financial year they have projected a turn over of Rs 1000 crore, observed Dr Muhammed Majeed, Chairman of Sami Labs.

Herbal extracts required in the manufacture of medicines is currently cultivated in 15,000 acres of land. The cultivation will be expanded to 30,000 acres of land. The company plans to spread cultivation to Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andhra, Kerala, Punjab, Maharashtra and Chattisgarh. For this Sami will be investing Rs 50-60 crore.

Besides the company has received the Drug Controller's License for the treatment of Glaucoma using its ForsLean eye drops. Apart from this they have completed the clinical trial for the treatment of Psoriasis. ForsLean has been made from a kind of tulsi plant, which is ideal for breaking the fat in the human body. Sami got US patent for ForsLean in the year 1998.
