Short Bio
Dr. Muhammed Majeed was born and raised in Kerala, India. He has over 45+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, molecular biology, nutritional and cosmetic industries. He introduced to the Americans “Ayurveda”, the traditional Indian medicine that has for ages been believed to act as a complete curative to their various ailments. After persistent efforts by Dr. Majeed they started recognizing the potential of Ayurveda and termed it the Evidence Based Medicine. By 2000 it became popular as the Complementary medicine and now it is called as the Integrated medicine.
After taking B Pharm from Trivandrum Medical College,
Dr. Majeed went to The US in 1975 to take MS in Pharmacy and Ph.D. in Industrial Pharmacy. He worked with some of the major pharmaceutical companies like Pfizer which earned him valuable experience in the latest technology in healthcare products formulations.
From here, he chose to establish himself as an entrepreneur by integrating technology with Ayurveda. It was the beginning of a new success story. He came out with new healthcare products with their actives taken from the herbs and also researched into the medicinal values of some plants which are not mentioned in the Ayurvedic texts.

Dear Dr. Majeed,
I am writing to congratulate you for being honored in the Hall of Legends at Expo West last month. This honor so well deserved. You have been a stalwart member of the industry for more than 2 decades. It is particularly rewarding to see the honor to a fellow graduate from St.John's University! (I was CBA 1976 and 1978 MBA).
I remember first meeting you at a tradeshow (Expo East I think) back in 1993 or 1994. We had just launched our Ayurvedic line with several products similar to the ones you developed for the Nature's Herb label at TwinLabs. Quite graciously you expressed happiness about seeing more companies in the category as it deserves to have a greater place in the natural products industry.
You have been a champion of scientific validation of traditional Ayurvedic uses and have been a standard bearer for many widely used products today....Guggul, Boswellia come to mind. Sabinsa continues to maintain the high bar you set for product research and quality. The credit for this goes to you Dr. Majeed. This is precisely why we buy (thru Tischon) several herbal extracts from your company.
I must add that Shaheen has clearly taken up the high standards you have set for Sabinsa, he has been just as welcoming and helpful as you are! Shaheen has kindly invited me to visit Bangalore when I am India next, this will most certainly do.
Congratulations again!

SABINSA Corporation
Dear DR. MAJEED:
On behalf of the Faculty of Pharmacy, I would like to express my warmest gratitude and appreciation for the tablet machine that you have donated to the Department of Pharmacy. This is an overwhelming gesture on your part for you have shouldered all the expenses for the shipment and installation of the machine. You even provided an Engineer who came all the way from India to supervise and install the equipment.
This is very timely donation since the The Pharmacy Pilot Plant and Drug Evaluation Unit (PPPDEU) is now focused on the production of herbal products. There are also plans for the pilot plant to apply for a license to operate as a manufacturing laboratory.
We hope that SABINSA Corporation and the Faculty of Pharmacy of the university of Santo Tomas will establish a strong research collaboration in the future. Also, we look forward to having an exchange program between our students/faculty members and your researchers for expertise/technology sharing.
Once again, we thank you for your generosity and concern for the students (both undergraduate and graduate) and faculty members of the Faculty of Pharmacy who will really benefit from this tablet machines.
Sincerely yours,
Priscilla M. Torres, PH.D.
