Sami-Sabinsa’s founder, the late Dr. Muhammed Majeed, was honored with the Times Business Awards Lifetime Achievement Award (Posthumous) for his “exemplary contributions to Nutraceuticals and Cosmeceuticals, and Philanthropy” in a ceremony in Bengaluru, India on June 21, 2024. Dr. Anju Majeed, Sami-Sabinsa Group Executive Chairperson, and Mr. Shaheen Majeed, Global Managing Director & CEO of Sami-Sabinsa Group, received the award honoring their father.

The prestigious lifetime achievement award was presented to Dr. Muhammed Majeed, Founder and Chairman, Sami-Sabinsa Group in recognition of his exemplary services in the nutraceuticals and cosmeceuticals industry. The award was presented by ASSOCHAM (The Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India) on the occasion of Ayush Mela which is one of India’s largest virtual exhibition and conference related to Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy which was held from October 30 – November 1, 2020. Sami-Sabinsa Group Limited, a pioneer and global leader in health sciences, is a leading producer of nutraceuticals, cosmeceuticals, standardized herbal extracts, fine chemicals, specialty chemicals, probiotics and enzymes.
There were 34 categories of awards which saw nominations from different fields of AYUSH. ASSOCHAM received more than 150 nominations for awards in different categories out of which 75 nominations were short listed across different categories. The nominations were selected by a jury of eminent persons.

Forslean was honored with the investment in science and research award because of the Numerous scientific studies completed and published in 2005 confirming its safety and Efficacy in increasing lean body mass and optimizing body composition. “body composition and hormonal Adaptations Associated with Forskolin Consumption in overweight and obese Men “ published in the Journal of obesity Research, “ Effects of coleus forskohlii extract supplementation on body composition and markers of health in sedentary overweight Females” published in the Journal of the International society of sports Nutrition and a Third study Conducted by the Kasturba Medical college in Manipal, India, all revealed that subjects receiving Forslean showed statistically significant increases in lean body mass levels and reductions in body fat percentages, body weight and body mass index with no adverse side effects.

The Thomas Alva Edison Patent Awards, which recognizes the most revolutionary product innovations and important scientific breakthroughs originating in New Jersey, was presented at the Research & Development Council's annual fall Basking Ridge. Sabinsa Corp oration also received this award in 2004 for its U.S. Patent #5,804,596 for the invention titled, “Method of preparing a forskolin composition for use in promoting lean body mass and treating mood disorders”.

Prestigious Ellis Island Medal of Honor
Dr. Muhammed Majeed, founder and CEO of Sabinsa Corporation, a manufacturer and supplier of herbal extracts and specialty fine chemicals, was chosen by the National Ethnic Coalition of Organizations (NECO) to receive its prestigious Ellis Island Medal of Honor.
This award, which is sanctioned by the U.S. Congress, is presented to Americans of diverse origins to recognize their leadership, commitment and service to their own ethnic group and to American society. Dr. Majeed was presented with the medal at a gala event held on May 15th, 2004 , on Ellis Island , New York.
“I am very proud to receive this honor and be recognized for the work I do here in the United States and in India ,” said Dr. Majeed. “I believe strongly in NECO's mission to preserve and celebrate ethnic diversity, and to promote advancement and tolerance among all ethnic groups.”
Muhammed Majeed was born and raised in Kerala , India . He emigrated to the United States in 1975, shortly after graduating with a degree in pharmacy from Kerala University . Upon arriving in the United States , Majeed began working for top pharmaceutical companies including Pfizer, Inc., Carter Wallace and Paco Research in Progressively responsible research positions. He also continued his graduate studies, receiving his Ph.D. in Industrial Pharmacy from St. John's University , New York in 1986. In 1988, Dr. Majeed founded Sabinsa Corporation, a company that was set up to market more than thirty standardized botanical extracts, several of which are derived from Indian based plant materials, for use in various supplements and products.
